Common Questions
Everything you need to know about exploring Rāzna's lakeside beauty and bird watching platforms
Spring (April–May) and autumn (August–September) are peak migration seasons when you'll spot the most species. Summer's great for nesting birds and families, while winter brings specialized visitors like white-tailed eagles if you don't mind the cold.
We recommend binoculars for a closer look, but the platforms are designed so you'll see plenty without them—especially waterfowl and raptors. If you're into photography, bring a telephoto lens or let us know beforehand and we can suggest the best spots for your setup.
You're welcome to bring your own. We also offer recommendations for local suppliers and can arrange curated provisions featuring regional Latvian products if you'd like—just let us know when booking.
Most expeditions run 2–4 hours depending on your interest level and the season. We keep a relaxed pace so you can genuinely observe behavior and habitat. Early morning sessions (6–10 AM) tend to be most active for bird spotting.
Most of our picnic locations are family-friendly with gentle paths and safe platforms. We can recommend specific spots based on your children's ages and mobility. Some platforms have railings and viewing windows, though we always advise supervision near water.
We monitor forecasts closely and can reschedule if storms are expected. Light rain doesn't stop us—it's actually great for spotting certain birds—but we'll provide shelter recommendations and reschedule if conditions become unsafe.
